Oof, what a weekend! It was the best weather to be outside. Is there anything as beautiful as the sunrises over Kempenfelt Bay? 🤩

We've had our fair share of stormy weekends this year. Even though there is an air quality warning this weekend, I made sure to spend as much time outside as possible because it wasn't raining or snowing. I watched the sun rise from the Gables, just east of Minet's Point this morning. Beautiful spot for a nature walk.

I've been seeing people ask if the trails in and around Barrie are open now after the ice storm. The short answer is yes, but use commonsense. Some trails still have signs that say the trail is closed. This is due to logs and branches that have blocked off the trail. I know crews have been working to clear the trails. Trilliums are in full bloom. I've been trying to find all the different colours. So far, I've seen white, pink and red. Next I hope to see a painted trillium.
If you want to see some, here are three places I've had luck:
1. Veteran's Woods in the south end
2. Simcoe County Forest, Blauxham tract (Salem and Veterans)
3. Awenda Provincial Park (thousands in bloom here, even as you drive through).
Here's a short video from my walks.

I stopped by Ardagh Bluffs and a few other parks this weekend. A few trails are closed due to trees or branches on the path.

An optical illusion. If you're standing on Centennial Beach, it looks like all the ice has melted and the water is perfect for a swim. But if you move to the south shore near Tollendale, it's pretty slushy.

With so many trees down, I hope everyone is careful around wooded areas. Due to the wind, branches are continuing to fall. Here's hoping tomorrow is the last of the stormy weather.
