I've been seeing people ask if the trails in and around Barrie are open now after the ice storm. The short answer is yes, but use commonsense. Some trails still have signs that say the trail is closed. This is due to logs and branches that have blocked off the trail. I know crews have been working to clear the trails. Trilliums are in full bloom. I've been trying to find all the different colours. So far, I've seen white, pink and red. Next I hope to see a painted trillium.
If you want to see some, here are three places I've had luck:
1. Veteran's Woods in the south end
2. Simcoe County Forest, Blauxham tract (Salem and Veterans)
3. Awenda Provincial Park (thousands in bloom here, even as you drive through).
