I've been seeing people ask if the trails in and around Barrie are open now after the ice storm. The short answer is yes, but use commonsense. Some trails still have signs that say the trail is closed. This is due to logs and branches that have blocked off the trail. I know crews have been working to clear the trails. In some cases, the trails have already been cleared but the signs are still up. And in some cases, you really cannot get past the entrance unless you climb over logs.
I have been using the trails regularly - Ardagh Bluffs and the Simcoe County forests. I am jist being extra careful with where I step and also keeping an eye on the trees and branches above me. If a branch looks like its barely hanging on, I stay away. So in my experience, the trails are mostly open if you're careful.
